<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly perform transition from the display of a thumbnail image to the display of a body image. <P>SOLUTION: A system control part 50 in an imaging apparatus switches a display method for an image display 28 to either of a first image display method and a second image display method according to the operation of an operation part 70. In the first image display method, each of body images is displayed one by one by a first display size based on the size of a display area of the image display 28. In the second image display method, each of thumbnail images is displayed by a second display size smaller than the first display size. When switching display based on the second image display method to display based on the first image display method, an area corresponding to a body image out of thumbnail images displayed on the image display 28 is substituted by the body image.
