<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a code amount from becoming excessive, while suppressing a redundant memory region or redundant code amount consumption. <P>SOLUTION: An image coding apparatus codes an inputted moving image by performing intra-screen prediction or inter-screen prediction thereon. When it is determined that an estimate code amount calculated before entropy coding exceeds a preset predetermined code amount, the inputted moving image is switched to intra-screen prediction. When the code amount exceeds the predetermined code amount after entropy coding, macro block pixels are restored from an inputted predictive pixel value and a transform coefficient. The restored image data are switched as data prior to entropy coding. Thus, it is not necessary to secure a redundant memory region and the code amount can be prevented from exceeding a maximum code amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
