<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door assist closer which enables a door to be smoothly and fully closed at a constant low speed from a fixed angle range with respect to a door closing position, without deteriorating the sense of opening/closing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This door assist closer includes a mechanism which makes a piston rod 5 for controlling a buffer speed moved in a door opening direction by a minimum force, following the door, in the fixed angle range with respect to the door closing position, when the door is opened. The door assist closer also includes a mechanism which disengages a magnet 7 connecting the piston rod 5 and the door 19 together, when the door is out of the range, and which makes the door fully closed at a constant speed following the piston rod for the control of the buffer speed, when the opened door makes an entry into the fixed angle range with respect to the door closing position, when the door is in a free state in the opened range of the door.
