<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating a joint portion, which enable a joint material removing operation to be efficiently performed by making a burden on an operator light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for treating the joint includes an apparatus body 10 with a motor, and two rod-like cutter members 30 and 30 which are juxtaposed away from each other. The apparatus 1 makes both the cutter members 30 and 30 rotated in directions different from each other by the power of the motor. The method for treating the joint includes a step of inserting an existing filler into the joint in the state of sandwiching it, and a step of stripping off the filler from the joint by simultaneously rotating the two cutter members 30 and 30 inserted into the joint.
