<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of managing an expiration period of information and erasing expired information for permitting temporary recording and copying of copy-prohibited information or copy-once information and preventing the copied medium from being used against the intention of an author. Ž<P>SOLUTION: As a condition for allowing temporary recording, a storage period for showing the validity period in the recording medium, a viewing period for showing the validity period after reproduction, and a copy period for permitting copy to the other medium are set. The copy-prohibited information can be moved to the other medium under the condition that the information on the medium is erased. The expired information is erased based on the predetermined rule.
