<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner by a polymerization method, in which toner particles can be recycled from the viewpoint of ecology and toner particles can be inexpensively and economically manufactured in a large volume without a waste. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing toner particles includes: a dispersion step of dispersing a colorant in polymerizable monomers to prepare a dispersion of polymerizable monomers; a mixing step of mixing an additive to the dispersion of polymerizable monomers to obtain a polymerizable monomer composition; a granulation step of granulating particles of the polymerizable monomer composition in an aqueous medium into a particle size according to the particle diameter of toner particles; and a polymerization step of polymerizing the polymerizable monomers in the granulated polymerizable monomer composition to obtain toner particles. In the mixing step, (i) toner particles separately manufactured and (ii) a fine powder or coarse powder classified as particles out of a predetermined particle diameter from the toner particles in a classification step are mixed into the polymerizable monomer composition by using an ultrasonic generator.
