The method involves allowing a user with an identification transmitter (10) to leave effective regions (6-8) after releasing of a door of a vehicle (1) at a review mode, without opening a door. The opening of the door is detected and stored, so that the door is automatically released at an operation mode when the user remains with the identification transmitter longer than a predetermined time interval at the effective regions. The door is locked when the user with the transmitter leaves the effective regions. The time interval is reduced to another time interval for releasing the door. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for providing access control to a vehicle, comprising an access control system.
