A magnetron (1) comprises an anode cylinder (11) which is formed into a cylindrical shape with the open opposite ends and on the inner wall surface of which a plurality of vanes (21) are radially arranged, a pair of magnetic poles (12, 13) which are located at the opening sections on the opposite ends of the anode cylinder for the purpose of forming a static magnetic field in the axial direction of the anode cylinder, and bypass lines (14, 15) which are located outside the pair of magnetic poles and hermetically seal the anode cylinder. The magnetron (1) is characterized in that, in the axial direction of the anode cylinder, the length (h12) of a portion (12A) in which the magnetic poles come into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the anode cylinder is equal to or longer than the length (h11) from the ends of the anode cylinder to portions in which thin portions (11A, 11B) of the anode cylinder are formed. As a result, a magnetron and microwave utilization device for preventing the deformation of an anode cylinder can be provided.
