Disclosed is a thermosensitive recording material comprising a base and a thermosensitive recording layer containing at least a leuco dye and a color-developing agent, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenylethane having a specific property as the color-developing agent and an undercoat layer comprising calcinated kaolin, an organic pigment and an adhesive agent is arranged between the base and the thermosensitive recording layer.
