<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing canopy unit which enables a room to be used as a wide space, can surely enhance sound absorption, and can form a comfortable living environment; and to provide a structure for installing the sound absorbing canopy unit. <P>SOLUTION: The sound absorbing canopy unit 10 includes a sound absorbing wall 11 which is installed on a predetermined place in a room 1 and arranged perpendicularly to a floor surface 2, and a sound absorbing ceiling 12 which is provided in the state of being elongated in a horizontal direction from the upper end of the sound absorbing wall 11. In the sound absorbing canopy unit, a sound absorbing material 13 is attached to the inside surface 10a of a canopy; and a sound absorbing material 14 is attached to the outside surface 10b of the canopy. The sound absorbing canopy unit enables a sound near the predetermined place in the room to be absorbed by the sound absorbing material attached to the inside surface of the canopy and the sound absorbing material attached to the outside surface of the canopy.
