<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for editing map data, capable of editing the geometric structure or image rendering information of a figure included in a map when editing map data by an image data map transfer method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device for editing map data includes: a server having a vector data storage means and a raster data storage means, and a client having a raster data rendering means and an edition target input means for receiving edition target information to be edited. The server includes an edition target figure search means for searching vector data for the vector data of a figure that satisfies a search condition based on the edition target information. The client includes an edition target figure display means for rendering the vector data, and a figure edition means to which a change of the rendered vector data is input. The server includes a post-edition figure update means for updating the corresponding figure information stored in the vector data storage means, based on the above change information.
