PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus body or an image forming system capable of applying punching at a required position and discharging papers so as to making the papers arrange in a page order during stacking by controlling image formation on the papers in accordance with the kind of a punching machine and the presence and absence of a reversing apparatus when the punching is applied on the papers. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus can be indirectly or directly connected with a front end punching machine for applying punching on the front end side in the conveying direction or a back end punching machine for applying punching on the back end side in the conveying direction, and an after-processing apparatus. In the image forming apparatus, based on connection information of the after-processing apparatus obtained by a communication part, the kind of the punching machine and the presence and absence of connection of a reversing apparatus for turning reversely the surface and the back of the recording medium and conveying it are determined, and in accordance with the result of the determination, arrangement of image data for forming an image on the recording medium is controlled.
