The brushing arrangement (1) has a conveyer system and an adjusting device for adjusting the distance of the brushing arrangement. A brushing unit (2) is arranged at a side of a work piece (10). The brushing unit is moved by the adjusting device for adjusting the distance to a surface of the work piece. An optical sensor unit is provided with an optical transmitter arranged at a side of the brushing unit and an optical receiver arranged at another side of the brushing unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating brushing arrangement.
