<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that the basicity of a material is lost when a rare earth element modified on a material surface reacts with Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>at a high temperature while it is considered that the material for which the surface is modified by the rare earth element of strong basicity (La or Nd, for instance) with Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>capable of maintaining a high specific surface area to a high temperature as a base is effective for the request of the material which has (1) heat resistance and (2) sintering suppressing ability (surface basicity) together. <P>SOLUTION: A carrier of a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is made of by modifying the surface of θ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>powder with a rare earth metal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
