PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor 1 configured to enable connection between a current collector 23 and an external electrode 29 with ease and at a low cost, while enabling sealability of a container 10 to be ensured. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor 1 is provided with a container 10 having a recess 11 that has a sealed opening, and an electrolytic solution 40 and a pair of electrode active materials 30a, 30b which are received in the container 10. The electric double layer capacitor 1 is further provided with a pair of conductive films 20a, 20b that are electrically connected to the pair of electrode active materials 30a, 30b, respectively and formed on a surface of the container 10 ranging from the bottom surface 13 of the recess 11 to the opening edge 19.
