<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber, especially a benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber with low color and a low sodium content, and a method for producing the absorber. <P>SOLUTION: The benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber has a yellow index less than about 0 and sodium concentration less than about 50 ppm.
