METHOD FOR PRODUCING BISPHENOL COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a bisphenol compound stably at a high conversion rate and with high selectivity over a long period.

SOLUTION: The method for producing a bisphenol compound by feeding both a phenol compound and a carbonyl compound continuously to a reactor filled with an acid catalyst is characterized in that the acid catalyst is a sulfonic acid-type cation-exchange resin wherein some of the sulfonic acid groups are modified with at least one compound selected from among 2-pyridylalkanethiol compounds and 3-pyridyl-alkanethiol compounds.
