PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus and a navigating method capable of alleviating a burden on a user. SOLUTION: When a destination is set by operating a setting button 4, a GPS unit 8 computes position data of the current position. A clinical thermometer 16 measures a body temperature of the user. A physical condition determining section 20 determines that the physical condition is good in the following case: body temperature≤normal temperature (36.8°C), that the physical condition is little bad in the following case: normal temperature<body temperature<37.5°C, and that the physical condition is very bad in the following case: body temperature≥37.5°C. A route searching section 15 searches a plurality of walking routes from the current position to the destination, based on map data stored in a RAM 7. Then, the route searching section 15 searches the optimal walking route among the plurality of walking routes in accordance with the body condition determined by the physical condition determining section 20, based on road specific data contained in the plurality of searched walking routes.
