PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide roll device with which pushing flaw caused by the roll for restraining deflection of a metal strip in a vertical-type annealing furnace can be prevented. SOLUTION: The guide-roll device is arranged in a cooling zone in the vertical-type annealing furnace, and deflection of the steel strip heat-treated in the vertical-type annealing furnace is restrained by pushing the roll to the steel strip. The roll 20 provided to the guide-roll device has a thermal spraying layer 23 formed of a ceramic on the surface. It is preferable that the ceramic thermal spraying layer 23 is formed such that a buffer layer 24 is interposing between a roll body 21 and the ceramic thermal spraying layer. The thermal spraying layer of the roll can be configured such that the surface of the roll body 21 is formed of the cemented carbide, and the surface of the end part of the roll body 21 and the surface of a shaft 22 are formed of the ceramics.
