<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce running cost of a fluorescent lamp type LED illumination device. <P>SOLUTION: In the linear fluorescent lamp type LED illumination device which is attached between a pair of sockets installed for a fluorescent lamp and constituted so that light is emitted from a light-emitting diode (LED) by converting an AC voltage supplied from the sockets to a DC voltage and applying it to the LED, a power supply unit electrically connected to one socket and incorporating a conversion circuit by which the AC voltage supplied from the socket is converted to the DC voltage and supplied to a light-emitting unit, and the light-emitting unit mechanically connected to the other socket while electrically connected to the power supply unit to light the light-emitting diode by the DC voltage supplied from the power supply unit are separated from each other.
