PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform traveling control so as to achieve lower energy consumption. SOLUTION: A driving support system collects vehicle speed information when a self-vehicle 1 travels, obtains the vehicle speed information of each vehicle from peripheral vehicles A to N traveling in the same direction as the self-vehicle 1 through communication equipment 21, calculates the mean value of the vehicle speeds of each vehicle, and when determining that the self-vehicle 1 performs acceleration/deceleration than necessary with respect to the peripheral vehicles A to N based on a difference between the vehicle speed of the vehicle 1 and the mean value of the vehicle speeds of the peripheral vehicles A to N, instructs a driving control device 10 to restrict acceleration.
