<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a letterpress for letterpress printing which is free from swelling in a solvent and can directly draw an image only onto a predetermined part without using a mask necessary for pattern production by a photoresist or the like and to provide a method for manufacturing the letterpress for letterpress printing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the letterpress for letterpress printing comprises following processes of (i), (ii). In the process (i), hydrophilization treatment is applied onto the surface 1a of a base material 1 consisting of a fluororesin to form a hydrophilization treatment section 20. In the process (ii), laser abrasion or machining is applied onto the surface 20s of the hydrophilization treatment section 20 to form a recessed part 1c of a planar shape corresponding to a printing image.
