PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication device that accurately executes authentication of an expiration date of a certificate, and to provide an authentication method for the same. SOLUTION: The wireless communication device 100 is connected with a server, capable of transmitting time information, via a communication network. The device includes a time acquisition part 134 for acquiring time information from the server, and an authentication part 132 for executing authentication to connect to the communication network by using a certificate whose expiration date is set.
