<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a liquid crystal display device, by which bias of charge is prevented by suppressing color breaks. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method for driving a liquid crystal display device in which a backlight is divided into 2n (n is an integer from 2 to 4) regions in a scanning direction, a write period, a common electrode voltage change period, a liquid crystal response period, and a lighting period are provided in each sub-frame, and a voltage applied to a common electrode is changed from a reference value in the common electrode period so that a voltage which resets a driven state of ferroelectric liquid crystal is applied to the ferroelectric liquid crystal, and two optional regions out of the 2n regions form one group, and write periods are provided in order for each color per region in regions of each group, and write periods are provided in order for each of a plurality of colors per group in 2n regions.
