The system and method for delivery of goods ordered via the Internet utilizes a delivery box (100) having a front door (102) with an electronic lock (104) and electronic key reader (106) for receipt of goods ordered via the Internet. Goods are shipped in a transport box (200) having an interior space (126) and a device (124) for controlling the temperature within the interior space. The delivery box (100) has at least one interior transport box receptacle (122) where a transport box (200) containing goods is placed on delivery. A power and data interface is established between a delivery box control circuit (150) and a transport box control circuit (250) the transport box (200) is placed into one of the receptacles, so that the delivery box control circuit (150) can power the transport box control circuit (250) and environment controlling device (206). A security code is downloaded from an Internet merchant site to the delivery box (100), and stored onto a keycard (105), when an order is placed. |
