ANGLE DETECTOR AND POSITION DETECTOR

An angle detector is equipped with a magnet rotor that has a multipole segment magnet, and a magnetic sensor that detects the direction of the magnetic flux from the aforementioned multipole segment magnet. The aforementioned multipole segment magnet has a plurality of magnetic poles that are arranged in the direction of rotation of the aforementioned magnet rotor. The aforementioned magnetic sensor has a magnetosensitive surface with a plurality of spin valve-type gigantic magnetoresistive elements (comprising a fixed layer with a fixed direction of magnetization, and a free layer wherein the direction of magnetization rotates according to the direction of the magnetic flux). The aforementioned magnetosensitive surface intersects the magnetic flux, and the aforementioned magnetic sensor is positioned relative to the aforementioned magnet rotor so that the magnitudes of the amplitudes of the flux density components that are orthogonal in the aforementioned magnetosensitive surface differ from one another.
