<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate luminance decrease by improving luminous efficiency of LEDs 22, to eliminate luminance unevenness of an entire backlight unit 2 caused by temperature unevenness, and to save power. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 2 includes: the LEDs 22 and Peltier elements 24 arranged on a substrate 21; and thermoelectric modules 23. The LEDs 22 are arranged in a plurality of regions on the substrate 21. The thermoelectric modules 23 are arranged corresponding to each of the regions and absorb heat of the LEDs 22 in each corresponding region through the substrate 21 and convert the heat into power. The plurality of the Peltier elements 24 are arranged corresponding to each of the regions, and cool the LEDs 22 by absorbing heat of the LEDs 22 in each corresponding region in response to driving power. The Peltier elements 24 are driven by power obtained by the thermoelectric modules 23 in each corresponding region. Thereby, the cooling degree of the LEDs 22 is adjusted in each of the regions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
