PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small size discharge tube driving circuit capable of driving efficiently a plurality of discharge tubes while suppressing heat generation by making an output voltage lower than a conventional one, to provide a small size discharge tube lighting device equipped with the discharge tube driving circuit, and to provide a small size image display device having the discharge tube lighting device. SOLUTION: By switching over a switch 152, one end of a secondary winding of a step-up transformer 151 which constitutes an output part of a first inverter 200I is alternately connected between first terminals 211A-21nA of a plurality of discharge tubes 211-21n and conductive members 112, and between second terminals 211B-21nB and the conductive members 112. Further, a second AC driving power with lower frequency than the frequency of a first AC driving power is supplied from a second inverter 150 between the first terminals and the second terminals of the plurality of discharge tubes 211-21n.
