PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system with a simple structure which prevents an illumination cover on a ceiling from dropping down from the ceiling even when it is shocked from outside, and allows the illumination cover to be removed simply from the ceiling for maintenance. SOLUTION: The lighting system has: the illumination cover 4 which is mounted on the ceiling 3 with an opening 3a formed therein and its periphery brought into contact with that of the opening 3a from the upper portion of the ceiling 3; an illumination box 6 which is mounted on the upper portion of the ceiling 3 while constituting an air-flow passage 5 together with the ceiling 3 and the illumination cover 4 with an air-inlet hole 9a for letting into the passage 5 the air from a ventilation unit 10 which feeds the air into the chamber of a basket 2; and a fluorescent lamp 7 mounted in the upper portion of the illumination cover 4 inside the air-flow passage 5. Further, the lighting system lets the air from the ventilation unit 10 into the passage 5 through the air-inlet hole 9a, and makes air pressure inside the passage 5 higher than that inside the basket 2.
