PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a structure and reduce manufacturing cost in a steering column device for clamping an outer column to an inner column. SOLUTION: The outer column 1 is formed into a rectangular hollow pipe shape, and the rectangular outer periphery 11 is held by chevron-shaped inner peripheral surfaces 86A and 86B formed in the clamp members 8A and 8B. The outer column 1 is stopped against rotation to the clamp members 8A and 8B by engagement of the chevron-shaped inner peripheral surfaces 86A and 86B and the rectangular outer periphery 11. When the outer column 1 is adjusted in telescopic position in respect to the inner column 2, the outer column 1 is guided by the clamp members 8A and 8B and is slid in an axial direction.
