PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel, reducing the radial size while maintaining the degree of freedom in layout of a shutter and an anti-shake mechanism. SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes a barrier drive ring 18 having a first rotation-transmitting protrusion protruding toward an imaging surface side in the direction of an optical direction and a second rotation-transmitting protrusion 18b formed parallel to the first rotation-transmitting protrusion 18a and substantially opposed thereto with the optical axis interposed between them. The lens barrel includes an image pickup element holding member 13 having a first cam contact section 13a brought into contact with the first rotation-transmitting protrusion 18a and a second cam contact section 13b brought into contact with the second rotation-transmitting protrusion 18b when the lens barrel 2 is retracted. Rotation transmission to the barrier drive ring 18 is performed in a varying manner first via a contact between the first rotation-transmitting protrusion 18a and first cam contact section 13a, then via contacts between the first and second rotation-transmitting protrusions and the first and second cam contact sections, and finally via a contact between the second rotation-transmitting protrusion and the second cam contact section.
