<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel wherein the brightness variation due to positional deviation when sticking an array substrate and a counter substrate to each other is suppressed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: On an array substrate 12, a spacer 15 which is brought into contact with a counter substrate 13 to hold a gap between substrates 12 and 13 is projectingly formed. A projecting portion 56 is provided around a regular contact position 59 of the spacer 15 on the counter substrate 13. When substrates 12 and 13 are deviated from regular positions when being stuck to each other, the spacer 15 is placed on the projecting portion 56 to widen a gap d between the substrates 12 and 13, and transmittance of a liquid crystal layer between the substrates 12 and 13 is increased. The reduction of an aperture ratio, which is caused by covering sub-pixels with a black matrix layer 58 due to the positional deviation of substrates 12 and 13 is canceled by the increase of transmittance, whereby the reduction of brightness can be suppressed.
