<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic-inorganic composite material containing inorganic particles with a specific size and having a high refractive index and a low Abbe number, and also to provide optical parts such as a lens base using the composite. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic-inorganic composite material includes a thermoplastic resin having a unit structure expressed by general formula (1), (2), or (3) and inorganic particles with a number-average particle size of 1-15 nm [wherein R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>10</SP>represent a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, aryl, or alkyl; L<SP>1</SP>-L<SP>3</SP>represent a single bond or divalent 1-30C linking group; X<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>3</SP>represent a divalent linking group selected from among a single bond, -CO<SB>2</SB>-, -OCO-, -CONH-, -OCONH-, -OCOO-, -O-, -S-, and arylene; Y<SP>1</SP>-Y<SP>3</SP>represent a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, or methyl].
