<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which executes gradation conversion processing by a line screen method and suppresses jaggy while reducing the load on the apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for executing gradation adjustment of image data using the line screen method has a straight line boundary determining function (S706) for determining whether or not the image data includes a straight line boundary portion of a predetermined length or more, an angle calculating function (S708) for calculating an angle formed by the straight line boundary portion and a predetermined direction when the straight line boundary determining function determines that the straight line boundary portion of a predetermined length or more is included, and screen angle changing functions (S712, S716) for changing the predetermined angle of a line screen in response to the calculated angle of the straight line boundary portion calculated by the angle calculating function so as to reduce the occurrence of jaggy in the straight line boundary portion.
