PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for reducing work loads relating to the setting work of a control parameter for appropriately controlling an ADF when newly providing the ADF or when exchanging it while suppressing cost. SOLUTION: On the installation surface of the ADF, an information label 412 carrying the control information of the ADF is formed within a range readable by a scanner unit 11 and at the outside of a document carrying area, the information label 412 is read by the scanner unit 11 at prescribed timing, and the ADF is controlled on the basis of the obtained control information.
