CONTROLLED RELEASE COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new composition which contains a physiologically active substance in a high content and can suppress the initial excess release thereof to achieve a stable release speed over a long period of time, and to provide a method of producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A controlled release drug is prepared by incorporating a physiologically active substance in a low molecular weight lactic acid polymer, particularly a lactic acid polymer in which the content of a polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 or less is reduced, or a salt thereof. A sustained release preparation over a long period of time is prepared by incorporating a physiologically active substance and hydroxynaphthoic acid in a lactic acid polymer or a salt thereof to be encapsulated therein.
