A vehicle-mounted information processing apparatus which allows precise identification of the position of another vehicle by using information relating to a distance between the another vehicle and an intersection. The apparatus is provided with a map information storage section (11) wherein map information including positional information relating to roads and intersections is stored, a vehicle-to-vehicle communication part (4) which acquires various kinds of information by vehicle-to-vehicle communication with the another vehicle, an another vehicle GPS information acquisition section (13) which acquires GPS information relating to the position of the another vehicle through the vehicle-to-vehicle communication part (4) and acquires first reference intersection distance information relating to the distance between the another vehicle and a first reference intersection which the another vehicle recognizes to be an intersection in front of the another vehicle and the nearest to the another vehicle, and an another vehicle position identifying section (16) which identifies the position of the another vehicle by using the GPS information, the map information, and the first reference intersection distance information. |
