<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing a conjugated aromatic compound. <P>SOLUTION: What is provided is a method for producing a conjugated aromatic compound comprising reacting an aromatic compound (A) having 1 or 2 leaving groups attached to the aromatic ring with an aromatic compound (B) which is (A) or is structurally different from (A) and has 1 or 2 leaving groups attached to the aromatic ring, in the presence of at least one ligand (L1) selected from the group consisting of (i) a nickel compound, (ii) a metallic reducing agent, and (iii) a 2,2'-bipyridine compound and a 1,10-phenanthroline compound each of which has an electron-withdrawing group and at least one ligand (L2) selected from the group consisting of (iv) a 2,2'-bipyridine compound having an electron-donating group and a 1,10-phenanthroline compound having an electron-donating group. According to this method, 4,4'-difluorobenzene can be obtained in high yields from e.g. 4-chlorofluorobenzene (wherein the leaving group is chlorine) being an aromatic compound (A). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
