<p>The cutting insert of the present invention has an upper surface, a bottom surface, side surfaces extending therebetween, an upper cutting edge at the intersection between the upper and the side surfaces, an bottom cutting edge at the intersection between the bottom surface and the side surfaces. The side surfaces has at least one upper groove extending in the direction of thickness of the insert to the upper surface, thereby dividing the upper cutting edge into a plurality of upper cutting edges, and at least one bottom groove extending in the direction of thickness of the insert to the bottom surface, thereby dividing the bottom cutting edge into a plurality of bottom cutting edges. The upper groove and the bottom groove are separated by a lateral intermediate portion of the insert. A cutting tool having the cutting insert and a method of cutting works using the cutting tool are also provided.</p> |
