METHOD FOR TREATING BYPRODUCT SALT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove heavy metal components from byproduct salt obtained by reacting sodium hydrogencarbonate with acidic components in exhaust gas.

SOLUTION: The byproduct salt is dissolved in water and then an insoluble content is separated away from the thus obtained solution. The resultant is brought into contact with a chelate resin having a functional group represented by any one of the following formulae 1-5, so as to remove mercury under conditions of pH 1-8.
