<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant supply device constituted so that a lubricant is stably supplied, and toner passed through or the lubricant is surely prevented from sticking to a latent image carrier again to surely prevent occurrence of an abnomal image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lubricant supply device 400 includes a solid lubricant 401, a lubricant supply member 402, and a lubricant smoothing member 403. The lubricant supply device 400 includes a foreign matter removing means 404 that is disposed downstream of a cleaning means 303 for cleaning the surface of the image carrier 11, in the direction of rotation of the image carrier and removes foreign matter stuck to the image carrier 11, separately from the lubricant supply member 402.
