<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector and the like capable of shortening processing time when it has a progressive conversion part and a scaling part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projector 100 includes: a decision part 140 configured to decide whether set information 132 showing whether a kind of an input image signal is an interlaced signal or a progressive signal is effective or ineffective; the progressive conversion part 160 configured to decide the kind of the input image signal on the basis of the input image signal when the set information 132 is ineffective, to perform progressive conversion to the input image signal when the kind of the input image signal is the interlaced signal, and not to perform the decision of the kind of the input image signal and the progressive conversion when the set information 132 is effective; and the scaling part 170 configured to perform scaling to the input image signal or the image signal subjected to the progressive conversion.
