The machine (1) has a vane rotor (2) driven by an electric motor (8), and a cold gas housing (3) provided upstream to the vane rotor. The electric motor is arranged in flow area of fresh air (5) that flows through the cold gas housing. A fresh air supply surrounding the electric motor is indirectly or directly connected with the cold gas housing. An air filter (6) is provided upstream to the cold gas housing, where the fresh air used for cooling the electric motor is filtered by the filter. An electrical controller is arranged in the flow area of the fresh air. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a gas dynamics pressure wave machine.
