<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate efficient encoding of pixels which are not displayed on a display. <P>SOLUTION: An image encoding method includes: an area detection step of detecting whether a pixel block for encoding is constituted by a first area which is displayed on an image display and a second area which is not displayed on the image display; and a motion vector detection step of detecting a motion vector only about the first area, when the pixel block for encoding is a pixel block including both the first and second areas as a result of a detection in the area detection step, wherein in an encoding step the pixel block including both the first and second areas is encoded by using the motion vector detected in the motion vector detection step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
