<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of suppressing a threshold voltage change due to aged driving of a driving element, and a method for manufacturing the display device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pixel 30 includes a first selection transistor for driving an organic EL element 21, a second selection transistor Tr12, and a light-emitting driving transistor Tr13. A recess 51a is formed in an area facing the transistor contributing to a switching operation, on the upper surface of an interlayer insulating film 35 formed on these transistors. Thus, light emitted from the organic EL element, external light, or the like, hardly enters the transistor performing the switching operation, and the light enters the light-emitting driving transistor Tr13. This incidence of the light suppresses the threshold voltage change due to the aged drive of the transistor Tr13 affecting the quantity of light emitted from the organic EL element 21.
