<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera always and reliably detecting the attitude of the camera even by an inexpensive attitude detection sensor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The camera includes an attitude detection sensor 31 for detecting the attitude by a member moving in a two-dimensional direction in parallel with a mounting surface, in order to detect a portrait mode and a landscape mode. The attitude detection sensor is mounted and arranged on an inclined surface 14aa which crosses a plane surface orthogonal to an optical axis parallel with the horizontal surface, as a straight line parallel with the horizontal surface on the plane surface, and in which a normal directed outward from a surface includes a component directed toward an object side and a component directed toward the top of the camera.
