PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device for a non-conforming saddle stitching wire, which can detect a failure that stitching by a wire is not completed in a book and a failure that the wire protrudes to outside from the back part. SOLUTION: The inspection device for the non-conforming saddle stitching wire includes a book conveying means 21 for conveying an opened book P, an upper end position control means 15 for controlling the upper end position of the conveyed book P, a wire magnetizing means 11 for magnetizing the wires 13 of the book P, a book detecting means 14 for detecting the book P passing a predetermined position, a magnetic field intensity detection means 12 for detecting the magnetic field intensity of the wires 13 of the book P while the book P is detected, and a quality determination means 23 for determining the quality depending on whether the magnetic field intensity detected by the magnetic field intensity detection means 12 falls within the range of a normal level or not. The magnetic field intensity detection means 12 includes a first magnetic field intensity detection device 12a for detecting the magnetic field intensity of a wire 13 inside the book P, and a second magnetic field intensity detection device 12b for detecting the magnetic field intensity of a wire 13 outside the back part of the book P.
