PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely obtain a high-quality photographic image without any blurring in a main subject during panning photographing. SOLUTION: In addition to a CCD 13 which captures a subject image for recording, a CCD 23 is provided for imaging the same subject and within an exposure time of the CCD 13 during photographing, the CCD 23 performs a plurality of imaging operations. A motion detecting section 38 detects a motion vector indicating a moving amount and a moving direction of each of respective parts of the subject between images captured before and after through the plurality of imaging operations. A CPU 31 determines a motion vector indicating a moving amount and a moving direction of the main subject from among the detected motion vectors and based on the specified motion vector, camera shake correction processing is implemented according to a CCD shift system for controlling a position of the CCD 13. Within an exposure time during photographing, right camera shake correction can also be performed based on accurate swinging information reflected with the relative motion of the main subject.
