When reading the image captured by the image capturing unit, a read control unit (109) sets the number of pixels to be read when the automatic focus control unit (107) is not in operation larger than the number of pixels to be read when the automatic focus control unit (107) is in operation, and stores in the frame memory (105) a plurality of images read when the automatic focus control unit (107) is not in operation after the automatic focus adjustment has been completed.
