<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk discriminating method and an optical disk device, for detecting reflected light for discriminating a kind of an optical disk with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical disk discriminating method, the reflected light from an optical disk is detected with high accuracy by switching a plurality of laser beams and moving spherical aberration correcting element while moving an objective lens closer to or away from the recording surface of an optical disk, and kinds of a plurality of optical disk are discriminated by signals generated from the detected reflected light.
